Skiros
Set in the heart of the Aegean Sea, Skyros, Greek island, stands apart from its neighboring islands with a character shaped by both rugged landscapes and quiet coastal life. As part of the Sporades group, it offers a mix of pine-covered hills in the north and drier, open terrain in the south. The main town, Skyros Town, rises along a hillside crowned by a whitewashed monastery and a medieval-style castle, creating a striking view from the harbor below.
Aguas Calientes
Aguas Calientes, officially called Machupicchu Pueblo, sits in a narrow valley below the ruins of Machu Picchu, shaped almost entirely by geography and access. The town grew around the railway and hot springs that give it its name, becoming a necessary stopping point rather than a destination planned in advance. Its identity is closely tied to movement, with most people arriving on foot or by train and staying briefly before heading uphill.
Kyle of Lochalsh
Kyle of Lochalsh, located on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, serves as a gateway to the Isle of Skye via the Skye Bridge, but the village itself deserves more than a passing glance. Once the terminus of the Highland Railway, the town still welcomes visitors by train on one of the UK’s most scenic routes. The line from Inverness to Kyle passes through remote glens, past lochs and mountain ranges, ending just steps from the waterfront.
Bequia
Bequia, the largest of the Grenadines, is a hidden gem in the Caribbean Sea that captivates visitors with its unspoiled beauty and warm, welcoming atmosphere. Often described as the "island in the clouds," Bequia (pronounced "Bek-way") offers a tranquil escape where turquoise waters meet lush green hills. The island's charm lies in its simplicity—no sprawling resorts or crowded beaches, just a peaceful haven where time seems to stand still.
Nicaragua
Nicaragua offers travelers a look into centuries of layered history set against striking natural backdrops. Visitors can tour the baroque-style Granada Cathedral, take a boat ride through Las Isletas (a chain of small, volcanic islands in Lake Nicaragua), or climb the bell tower of Iglesia La Merced for sweeping city views.
Lagos
Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city and economic hub, is located on the country’s southwestern coast along the Atlantic Ocean. It is a bustling metropolis where modern skyscrapers and commercial centers meet historic neighborhoods and lively markets.
