Tskaltubo is a spa town in western Georgia, located in the Imereti region near Kutaisi. The town is known for its naturally warm mineral waters, which emerge from springs beneath the surrounding limestone landscape. Broad streets, parks, gardens, and early resort architecture reflect Tskaltubo's long association with health tourism. The town also provides access to the karst landscapes of western Georgia, where caves, underground rivers, and forested valleys are common. Its location makes Tskaltubo a convenient base for exploring nearby natural and cultural sites while experiencing one of Georgia's best-known mineral-water destinations.

Tskaltubo's identity has been shaped by its spa tradition and the resort buildings constructed around its mineral springs. The town contains several large bathhouses, colonnades, and former sanatoriums surrounded by landscaped grounds. Many of these structures display the monumental architectural style associated with Georgian resort towns. The local mineral water is naturally warm and contains a mixture of dissolved minerals, and bathing facilities have traditionally used the water without extensive heating. Tskaltubo's spa culture remains an important part of its local identity, even as some historic resort buildings have fallen into disuse.

The surrounding area is particularly notable for its limestone caves. Prometheus Cave, near Tskaltubo, contains large chambers decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, and other karst formations, with an underground river flowing through part of the cave system. Sataplia Nature Reserve is also nearby and protects forested karst terrain, caves, and fossilized dinosaur footprints. Within Tskaltubo itself, the central park provides a green setting around the mineral springs and historic bathhouses. The town's position between Kutaisi and the cave landscapes of Imereti makes it a practical starting point for exploring the region.

Imeretian cuisine gives Tskaltubo access to a distinctive branch of Georgian food traditions. Imeruli khachapuri, a round bread filled with Imeretian cheese, is one of the region's best-known dishes. Local cooking also features lobio, chicken with walnuts, pkhali made from vegetables and ground walnuts, and dishes prepared with fresh herbs. Tskaltubo's spa heritage is matched by a quieter natural feature: the town's mineral springs continue to emerge at temperatures suitable for bathing. The combination of warm springs, historic bathhouses, karst caves, and Imeretian food traditions makes Tskaltubo distinct within western Georgia.
